My first game. Inspired by fictional space weapons platforms, tower defense, and survivor games. Fun fact: You can beat the game without clicking the mouse once.  (Just aiming and 1-3 for upgrades)

Controls:

  • Aim mouse (auto damage beam weapon)
  • 1-3 select upgrades (avoids moving mouse's aim during tense situations)
  • Mousewheel UP/DOWN and keys W/S control AOE (if I made this work on mobile it would play on a phone well!)
  • Mouse 1 blasts a trap hole in the ground, can hold to draw a line.

Tips:

  • Damage is good! AOE also good! Adjust AOE on the fly!
  • Smaller AOE is higher single target (Skullshrooms)
  • Blast holes could be better, big guys walk over them. Didn't get to balance around level 2 blast hole upgrade or make a wider mega blast.
  • Game lock? Maybe an enemy is stuck on the outside of the walls, max your AOE and go around the edge of the map with your cursor.

Love the different messages when hovering over the start button. The sound effects when enemies are destroyed is incredibly satisfying to listen to, especially when you kill a bunch of enemies at once.

The upgrades are very straightforward and have actual weight, which makes getting an upgrade feel like an actual reward!

One of my favorite parts of the game was the sense of humor, which it is full of. It's a very charming game that plays really well and is simple to understand. This is a very strong first game. I like it!

Great job for a first game! You definitely hit a bit of that Vampire Survivous addictive aspect with tons of enemies and all of the hit noises going off, there is something very enjoyable about that.

I came for a quick game and stayed because it is very addicting. Nice job and for a first game even!

I agree adding a soundtrack! Visuals have a 90s RTS vibe which works well with your theme. The sound effects are quite snappy and the gameplay feels challenging but manageable. Nice work

First game jam game? Nice job! I like the overall theme take. Art is very old school. I liked the Skullshrooms. Very chill till it isn't, I got to level 4. Kinda addicting. Sound FX and some pumping music could add to this a lot.
